Description
Teachers are good at delivering content to students that can increase their knowledge, but student-led instruction has an increased ability to affect students’ beliefs. (Alexander, Fives, Buehl, & Mulhern, 2002). Students value their teacher’s knowledge base, but are more persuaded or influenced by their peers. If this is true, then teachers may have an incredible opportunity to instill meaningful lasting knowledge in students through collaboration teaching methods, allowing students to lead and also conduct team-taught lessons in the class. In this review, various methods of lesson-delivery will be discussed. An explanation of the tools and techniques needed to complete an engaging lesson and the benefits of peer learning will also be explained. This review of literature will attempt to explain the reasons why, and how can teachers successfully combine a blend of teacher-led instruction with peer learning.
